On the 1st May 2004 Pure Mint Recordings was born. Mint Source Recordings - the sister label of Pure Mint - was established in September 2002 with a view to looking at redressing the imbalance in the traditional relationship between artists and record label.

The basic deal structure offered to all Pure Mint acts is really quite simple:

1. All Net Profits are split 50% to the artist and 50% to the label, thus allowing artists to share in all income streams (including VPL income - which has been traditionally excluded) and thereby putting an end to the trend of packaging deductions, reduced royalties for television advertised product and so on….

2. The label does not operate long-term restrictive contracts and the artist is free to leave the label at any time. Pure Mint wants acts to record with the label because they want to, not because a piece of paper says they have to!

3. All marketing, A&R, design and promotional proposals (including spends) are mutually discussed and agreed upon.
