Fire and Water are Bevin Fagan (Jamaica)
and Frank Schittenhelm (Germany). Bevin (or Run to his
friends) was the former lead singer and founding member
(with Dennis Bovell) of legendary UK 70’s lover’s
rock/ reggae band MATUMBI
who toured the world (playing with Peter Tosh and Bob
Marley amongst others) and signed to Trojan Records before
going on to release 3 albums for EMI records - recommended
albums include the sublime Seven
Seals and the classic Point
of View (which charted and saw Run perform
on the world renowned UK music programme Top
Of The Pops). Run also established his own
production house and label in the early eighties (Matumbi
Records).
An outstanding chef and one time restaurant owner, Run
also wrote the theme tune to the landmark 70’s soap
opera EMPIRE ROAD,
and produced and starred in the Channel 4 film BUSKERS'
ODYSSEY in the early nineties which was loosely
based on his life as a 'professional busker.'
A virtuoso guitarist, Frank, who is half German and half
Czech, has studied and played music all over the world.
A collection of his Spanish Guitar works was recently
performed live on Spanish national television. Frank
has also collaborated on music projects with the comic
and musician Felix Romahn, a household name in Germany.
Fire and Water have been recently working in the Studio
and Run has additionally contributed vocals to some of
DJ Attorney's recent recodings
which are scheduled for a Pure Mint release later in 2005.
