Nigel of Bermondsey (London,
England)_
"A
wide-eyed wonderment"
– Clash Magazine
“I
like this a lot!”
– Mark Radcliffe,
BBC Radio 2
"an
album that is immediately impressive and deceptively complex." Clash Magazine (about London Dreamtime)
Nigel Hoyle
- aka Nigel of Bermondsey
- returns with his own unique brand of sunburnt
psychedelic pop suffused with a heart of shimmering
folk-rock. After the fantastic critical reception for his debut album 'Nigel of Bermondsey', with support from XFM (XFM New Music Award Nominee 2009), Absolute Radio, BBC Radio 2, The Independent (amongst many others), Nigel is set to release London Dreamtime on 5th July supported by the single Lonely Heart Attack, taken from the Album. Songs such as ‘Across The Way'
and ‘Human Nature ' are
laced with 'technicolor melodies' and a harmony-obsessed
West Coast aesthetic that echoes artists like Big
Star, Mercury Rev and Brian Eno . London Dreamtime also features the fabulous reinterpretation of the old "Inspiral Carpets" classic - This Is How it Feels, which received fantastic support at UK radio.
Nigel learned his craft as one of the founding members
of late nineties, early noughties glam rockers Gay Dad.
He has written several top ten records (both
as a performer and a writer for other performers) and
has toured with a diverse roster of worldclass acts
over the years from Robbie Williams
and Ben Folds Five to Mansun
and the Stranglers.
Nigel is also one half of dance producers Cage and Aviary
and has written & collaborated with Freelance Hellraiser
on mixes for Christina Aguilera and Snow Patrol.
Mark Radcliffe at BBC Radio 2
chose Overload
(the first single from Nigel's debut album) as one of his pick
of the week tracks, and Nigel has seen fantastic broad support for his releases from
Q Radio, NME.COM, Maxim, The Independent., The Daily Mail, Artrocker, Clash Magazine, Classic Rock etc. More press
